The Copyright Tribunal was established under Part VI of the Copyright Act 1968. It has the power to:

  • inquire into the amount of royalty payable in respect of the recording of musical works;
  • inquire into the amount of royalty payable in respect of the recording of musical works;
  • fix royalties or equitable remuneration in respect of compulsory licences;
  • arbitrate disputes in relation to the terms of existing and proposed licensing schemes;
  • deal with applications for the granting of licences.

The Copyright Tribunal (Procedures) Regulations Schedule 1 provides for the following two forms:
