Hours

The Registry counter is open to the public from 9.00am until 4.00pm. Telephone enquires can be made from 8.30am until 5.00pm, except on weekends and public holidays.

The Court usually sits from 10.15am until 12.45pm and 2.15pm until 4.15pm. However, some Court proceedings may commence earlier so it is a good idea to check the listing details in the Law List which is published each weekday in The Mercury or on this website.

Transport and parking

Metro buses run regularly to the bus terminal in Hobart City centre. It is then just a short walk to the Court.

Located near to the Court is one open-air car park, several multi-storey car parks and metered parking. Arrangements for parking for people with disabilities can be made on request.

Facilities

The library on level 11 is open to practitioners and litigants between 9.00 am to 12 noon.

The Court publishes a range of resources which provide information on the Court’s procedure including mediation, bankruptcy, human rights and witnesses. This information can also be found on this website. Some information is available in community languages.

The publications and court forms are available at the Registry counter. Court forms are also available from this website. There is also a computer terminal for public use which can be used to access court forms or to search the Court’s database of cases.

You should also approach the enquiry counter if you wish to search a court file. A fee is payable when searching a court file and for obtaining copies of any filed documents.

Wheelchair access is available to the building.

Public toilets are located on the ground and second floors. A toilet for people with disabilities and baby change area is located on the ground floor.

There is also a public phone located in the foyer of the ground floor of the building.

Court staff cannot provide child care. A number of child care centres operate in the City.

There are a number of cafes and lunch bars in the area.

The Commonwealth of Australia has a no smoking policy and smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the building.
