Title: Legal Case Manager NSW
Level: Federal Court staff level 5 (non-ongoing for a period of 12 months
Job type: non-ongoing for a period of 12 months
Location: Sydney
Salary: $65,115  plus superannuation

The Legal Case Manager will undertake casement management including legal research and other tasks in the NSW District Registry of the Federal Court of Australia.

Duties:

Undertake Case Management including legal research.

Selection criteria:

  • Knowledge or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of court processes and procedure and an understanding of the policy and purpose of (the reforms to) the Migration Act 1958 (Cth), Federal Court Act 1976 (Cth) and Federal Court Rules to a high standard.

  • Demonstrated high level of analytical, conceptual, problem solving and legal research skills.

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, achieve objectives and show attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated keyboard skills and familiarity with the computerised systems including database information retrieval skills and on-line interactive communication systems.

  • Ability to work as part of a small team with reporting arrangements to various senior officers within a court registry and manage the competing priorities that arise.

  • Highly developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills and to be able to communicate and be sensitive to culturally diverse stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to and work effectively in a variety of situations, to understand change and respond flexibility to changing organisational priorities.

  • Ability to apply the principles of Workplace Diversity, Workplace Participation and Workplace Health & Safety.

  • Demonstrate behaviours consistent with the APS Code of Conduct and APS Values and adheres to them

The position requires legal qualifications (honours level or equivalent preferred).

d)   A letter explaining why the position is being sought; and
